Foods and Nutrition / Hospitality Foods

Mrs. Libby's Foods classes are always cooking up something yummy!  Sometimes it's hard to keep our minds on our work with all those wonderful smells throughout the school! General Foods classes are offered through Grades 8-12, and students learn to prepare a variety of menus, as well as how to balance a diet, and the proper preparation and safety techniques necessary for a healthy meal.

Hospitality Foods 11&12 are hands-on courses designed with food service goals in mind.  Students taking these courses have the opportunity to learn about the fastest growing industry in British Columbia -- tourism related to the food service industry.  Students plan balanced menus that are prepared and served during lunch to anyone in the school.  Many skills are developed through food preparation, sales, operating equipment, and processing orders.  Working as a team to achieve success develops self-confidence and a good work ethic for the students.  Students will obtain their B.C. FoodSafe Level 1 through this course.
