The GSS Music Program provides instruction in Instrumental and Choral music for students in Grades 8-12.  These are primarily performance courses in which students learn to sign or play a band instrument in an ensemble.  The learning of performance skills as well as cooperative participation and teamwork are important aspects of these courses.  Students rehearse and perform music in a wide variety of styles, including traditional styles, jazz and pop.  Students have opportunities to participate in a variety of ensembles including concert band, jazz band, concert choir, jazz choir and various smaller ensembles.  Our ensembles perform at various events in Golden and at a variety of festivals including the Okanagan Concert Band Festival, the Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival, and MusicFest Canada.
