Entry into the KAS Program

It takes up to two weeks to complete our new student intake process. During this time, staff will provide you with some introductory academic work to be completed at home. You are welcome to contact staff by phone or email during this time for support. The intake process includes the following steps:

Shared KAS/Selkirk Enrollment

Students may be enrolled at KAS and Selkirk at the same time. Shared students are considered on an individual basis. You need to meet the following criteria to be considered:
  • You are in grades 11 or 12.
  • You have been enrolled in the full-time program at KAS for at least one year.
  • You have been successful in the full-time program, meaning:
    • you have had greater than 85% attendance;
    • you are on track to complete your courses by the end of the school year;
    • you consistently receive 4s for productivity, participation and behaviour.

To transition to Selkirk on a part time basis, you:
  • Need to make your request as soon as possible to ensure course availability.
  • Give up your spot in the full-time program at KAS (with morning discussion, cardio, field trips and yoga) and move to the part-time program (some academic blocks only).

Transitioning to Selkirk Full Time

Some students who attend KAS are interested in transitioning to Selkirk on a full time basis.

Each situation is unique and students are welcome to request and attend a school based team meeting to discuss enrolment options. A school based team meeting includes the following participants:
  • student
  • parent/guardian(s)
  • KAS teacher(s)
  • Selkirk administrator(s)

You need to meet the following criteria to be considered:
  • You have been enrolled in the full-time program at KAS for at least one year.
  • You have been successful in the full-time program, meaning:
    • you have had greater than 85% attendance;
    • you are on track to complete your courses by the end of the semester/school year;
    • you consistently receive 4s for productivity, participation and behaviour.
