Career Programs

Career programs at KAS include regular activities related to CAPP 8, 9, 11, 12 and Planning 10. Students complete independent projects and participate in employment related field trips. Class activities include guest speakers, independent paper-based and online projects.

Career Field Trips

Past field trips include:
- College of the Rockies career fair
- Teck Coal Mine
- East Kootenay Regional Hospital
- Fort Steele
- Overwaitea Foods

Work Experience 12

Grade 11 and 12 students can also participate in work experience placements and receive 8 grade 12 credits.

Students complete a minimum of 100 hours of paid or unpaid work arranged independently or by the school. When the hours have been completed, students work with staff to complete a review of the experience, reflect on areas of improvement and next steps.
