Grad / Ceremony / Prom

Although it will look quite different than it traditionally does, we will be having a grad ceremony.  Each graduate will receive a gift from the school and will be presented their school-based diploma.  Below I have outlined the details for the day and a schedule of grad events.

Thursday, June 25

Virtual Ceremony

  • Speech from the Valedictorian
  • Speech from the Superintendent
  • Video message from Mr. Dolgopol and the Selkirk staff
  • Grad video by Gretchen Miller

Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27

Grad Ceremonies at Selkirk ** please wear your dress/suit**

  • Grad gown march
  • School-based diploma presentation
  • Grad gift(s)
  • Scholarship and Bursary presentations
  • Connect with staff one last time
  • You will receive a gown, stole and hat to take home for pictures

The plan is to have a series of mini-ceremonies held in the Selkirk gymnasium.  Since we have restrictions on crowd sizes to under 50, we will invite groups of eight grads with a maximum of four guests each (this can only include people that you live with (ie. parents/guardians/immediate family).  It will be a formal event and we will ensure that we honour the integrity of graduation.  We have hired a professional photographer to capture the moment.  Below I have outlined the details for the day and a schedule of grad events.

Please:
**show up fifteen minutes prior to your ceremony**
**do not gather in the parking lot and be mindful of social distancing**
**remember that as you arrive there is the potential that another ceremony is in progress**
**wait until a Selkirk staff member guides you and your guests into the building and keep the volume to a respectable level**
