PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE FOR MAY

"Every student at Selkirk Secondary School is an important part of the school community and will be actively engaged in learning activities that promote discovery and empowerment."

The past month has flown by, as has much of the school year! It is great to see the Spring activities at school and around town that are marked by the longer days and warmer weather. April saw the transition into Spring sports with our girls soccer team, golf team, rugby team, and baseball team beginning their seasons. Thanks to all of the coaches for the time they put into coaching these teams! April was also highlighted by a number of field trips including the Choir/Band trip to Calgary at the end of the month, the Grad Talent Show, a school spirit event called “FunderStorm” led by Student Council, and the Spring Dance. On a sad note, the end of April was also marked by the flooding situation in Morrison subdivision. Selkirk staff and students stepped in to help the residents of Morrison subdivision with the sandbagging effort, showing how much they care about their community! It is this kind of positive citizenship and leadership that makes Selkirk such a great school and Kimberley such a great community. This months newsletter highlights many of April’s activities. May promises to be another exciting month as we head into the final two months of the school year. ~ Clint Dolgopol
