Principal's Message for JunePRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
As we enter the final month of the school year, I continue to be proud to be part of a school in which every student
is an important part of the school community and where students are actively engaged in learning activities
that promote discovery and empowerment. I want to thank all of the staff and students for their hard work, leadership,
and citizenship throughout the year. We have three teachers retiring this year– Sandy Stewart, Tom Martin,
and Jerry Bancks. Congratulations and a huge thanks to all three for their dedication and passion towards
teaching and to the great work they have done in supporting youth in Kimberley over the years!
Congratulations as well to Jen Quigley who will be the new Principal at Marysville Elementary School beginning
in September. We thank Jen for her contributions at Selkirk the past five years! We will be hiring a new Vice-
Principal as well as a few teaching and support staff positions before the start of next year. An update will be provided at our
year-end assembly and will be in our Welcome Back package in August.
We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students throughout the year at Selkirk’s 31st Sports
Banquet on June 2, 21st Academic Awards Night on June 16, and during grad activities on June 24 & 25. We
hope to see you at one or more of these events.
As we get closer to final exams, we encourage students to remain focused on having a strong finish to the year.
Our last day of regular classes is Tuesday, June 21st. with final exams and provincial exams beginning on
Wednesday, June 22nd. There are several other pieces of important information within this newsletter including
a calendar of upcoming events and an exam schedule. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any
questions. I wish you all a great June & summer! ~ Clint Dolgopol
