Last week, the District was honoured to host Anne Tenning from First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) for a regional professional development workshop. Over 35 teachers from SD6 and the neighbouring districts of SD5, SD8, SD10, SD20, SD51 and the independent schools participated in the first of 10 regional professional development sessions in British Columbia.
The participants were engaged in full-day workshop to learn more about the English First Peoples 10-12 which supports the implementation of the new Indigenous-focused graduation requirement. Participants received a copy of the 400-page resource guide, collaboratively explored its units, discussed implementation of its lessons, and networked with other educators.
