Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is now accepting applicants for the role of temporary, part-time (0.5714 FTE) Community LINK Student Support Worker position in Golden, BC. This role is effective September 2, 2025, to June 26, 2026.

 

The Community Link (CLINK) Student Support Worker, under the direction of the Director of Instruction, supports the academic achievement and social functioning of vulnerable students in our school communities. The CLINK Student Support Worker acts as a member of a collaborative school-based team providing preventative health and wellness programming, as well as social emotional learning and support for individuals and small groups of students. CLINK workers are responsible for positive and supportive relationships with staff, students, and parents.

 

DUTIES:

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND SUPPORT

  • Liaise with School Principal, School Counsellor, and other members of school-based team to identify vulnerable students and appropriate supports.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate social-emotional programming, life skills, awareness of self, anti-bullying, and other topics, as needed, with individuals and small groups.
  • Provide support to students during unstructured parts of the school day. (i.e. lunch, recess and extracurricular activities and clubs)
  • Network with community agencies to provide support and information to families about camps, sports, or other community opportunities of benefit to students and their families.
  • Coordinate and participate with students in community projects designed to promote belonging, independence, and generosity.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROMOTION

  • Partner with community partners to provide effective, holistic health promotion across community schools.
  • Decrease barriers for staff and students to participate in health-focused programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Child and Youth Care, a Bachelor of Social Work, Child, Youth and Family Studies, fitness/health promotion and/or a related diploma and relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate intervention and prevention strategies;
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and reporting skills;
  • History of innovative approaches to facilitate family and community involvement;
  • Applicants require access to a vehicle and have the ability to move between sites as needed.
