Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is now accepting external applications for Casual Labourers in the Golden Zone.
Effective July 7, 2025 to August 22, 2025
The Labourer is responsible to provide a healthy, clean, safe environment by performing a variety of manual tasks related to in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment. This role includes the operation of hand and power tools in the performance of assigned tasks. The work is carried out under the immediate direction of various operations department personnel, under the general direction of the Operations Supervisor.
Examples of Work
- Assists in planting, weeding, pruning and in the maintenance of District fields and grounds.
- Assists in the repair and/or installation of drainage and irrigation and sewer systems.
- Lifts and carries heavy objects and materials used in schools and in the construction and renovation of the District’s facilities.
- Transports, loads and unloads furniture and equipment, construction materials and supplies to designated sites.
- Assists with specific unskilled tasks as requested.
- Consistently demonstrates a firm, fair, courteous and patient approach when communicating with students, staff, parents and other members of the public.
- Snow removal, when assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions.
- Skill in the operation of hand and power tools.
- Good physical condition, strength and agility.
- Knowledgeable in the use of computers and other related electronic devices.
Required Training, Experience and Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Additional related training or experience would be an asset.
Rate of Pay
$21.25/hr, as per the Collective Agreement 440
