These bursaries are offered to secondary students completing their grade 12 year who will enter a recognized post secondary educational institution in the 2022/2023 term. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and/or special needs.

Preference will be given to students entering the fields of engineering, architecture, or building technology.

Harris & Co. Law Scholarship

Criteria: Student in Law 12 (or an alternate course if the School District does not offer a law course) who excels in this area and who intends to enroll in post secondary education at a recognized institute, College or University in BC. (Scholarship has been awarded to students who attend post secondary outside of BC).

Mary (Molly) Degrazio Memorial Scholarship

Upon recommendation from the GSS Scholarship Committee, this $1,000 scholarship will be granted to a deserving, Golden Secondary School graduating student who is pursuing post-secondary studies. Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates financial need.

The recipient has 18 months to register at the post-secondary institution of their choice. Recipient must provide proof of tuition fee payment and confirmation of attendance from the Registrar's Office after November 1 to GSS.

Award amount: $1000 CAD

Nathan Emery Memorial Bursary

Students must be a GSS graduate. This is the only academic criteria. Student should have demonstrated an appreciation for the wilderness and respect for the environment.

This may be shown by choosing to spend time in outdoor activities. Students must provide a history of his/her non-motorized outdoor pursuits in wilderness setting such as hiking, backpacking, camping, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, canoeing, etc.; as well as indicate any courses that have been taken to further develop knowledge and skills and what organized activities they have been involved in such as a race teams, competitions, clubs, etc.

Student should be prepared to explain how the money is to be spent and how a particular course will further his/her goals in life.

Award amount: $500 CAD

Must have attended a secondary school prior to continuing his/her education elsewhere (Vocational or academic). Financial need, ability, citizenship and involvement in school and community affairs. To support a graduating student taking a recognized form of continuing education. Student must follow through with plans or the scholarship may be withdrawn.

After two months of attendance at a post secondary institution the recipient must supply proof of enrollment in order to receive payment. To remain eligible the recipient must register at a post secondary institution within 1 year of his/her month of graduation and must be in full-time attendance within 15 months of graduating. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture.

Award amount: $1000 CAD

Storwell Bursary

Storwell offers an annual bursary of $2,000 to support foster children as they pursue their post-secondary education and to help them as they progress into a new and exciting stage of their lives.

Bob Grigg Memorial Scholarship

The student has registered in an accredited post secondary education or an accredited music program; the student has purchased a new concert or jazz band instrument and that the funds will be used to reimburse all or part of the purchase up to $600.

If the musical instrument costs less than $600, the balance of the scholarship will remain in the scholarship fund unless the student has registered in a summer band/jazz camp; the student has registered in a summer band or jazz camp and the funds will be used to reimburse all or part of the cost of registration and/or travel to the camp. To encourage the renewal and development of concert band and jazz band programs at Selkirk School. This award is to be granted to the outstanding band student at Selkirk each year, as selected by the Selection Committee, and subject to scholarship requirements and selection criteria.

The selection is to be made by the selection committee after receiving the recommendation of the Selkirk band teacher - selection criteria: musical talent, work ethic, enthusiasm and attitude. If the selected student is unable to meet the scholarship requirements, this scholarship is to go to the student considered second -most deserving in that school year. This scholarship may be awarded for any particular school year only if there has been one or both of a jazz band or concert band program at SSS in that school year.

The recipient will be involved in community affairs and must follow through with his/her plans for post-secondary education or the scholarship may be withdrawn.

After two months of attendance at a post secondary institution, the recipient must supply proof of enrollment. To remain eligible for the scholarship the recipient must register at a post secondary institution within 1 year of his/her month of graduation from high school and be in attendance at a qualifying institution within fifteen months of graduating.


Award amount: $1000 CAD

The applicant must have attended David Thompson Secondary prior to continuing his/her post secondary education. The recipient must follow through with his/her plan for post secondary education.

After two months of attendance at a post secondary institution the recipient must provide proof of registration in order to receive payment of the award.

Financial need, ability and citizenship. Recipient must be a student from the Windermere District who is going on to further education in a non-academic field. The recipient must have taken all the necessary prerequisite courses that are available to him in the district.

The recipient must show proof of registration within twelve months of notification of his/her being awarded the bursary otherwise the would-be bursary is reverted back to capital.

Jeremy Chambers Memorial Bursary

Shall be participation at a high level in minimum of two school sports in their grade 12 year. In addition the recipient will have been a positive influence on each team.

The recipient must follow through with his/her plan for post-secondary education or the bursary will be withdrawn. To remain eligible for the bursary the recipient must register at a post-secondary institution within 14 months of his/her graduation. Applicants must outline their plans for post-secondary education and their involvement in school sports teams.
