On a sunny but cool day in October, the staff and students at Kimberley Alternate School were joined by their neighbour and Trustee, Darryl Oakley, in having an Indigenous meal. Guests of honour, Dolly and Pete Andrews, Ktunaxa Elders from the Aq’am Community, came to the school to talk to the students about their past experiences in school and life and showed us all how to make fry bread. We are hoping to continue connecting with these Elders in November with some traditional drum making at the school.
