☀️ It’s an exciting time welcoming students back for the new school year – and as the fun continues, we also want to make sure everyone is staying safe in the heat. September has started off with above-average temperatures, and hot conditions are expected to last several more days.

To help kids enjoy the outdoors safely, Interior Health has shared some simple tips for parents and staff, including keeping kids hydrated, taking shade breaks, and dressing for the weather.

We encourage families and staff to review and share the attached poster with more recommendations. Together, we can help keep students cool, safe, and ready to enjoy the start of the school year.

For more information on heat or smoky conditions, you can also view the BCCDC Wildfire Fact Sheet on Smoke and Schools or the Interior Health website.
