The Rocky Mountain School District wishes to share the following leadership staffing update for J.A. Laird Elementary School, in Invermere, B.C: 

We are pleased to announce that Lainey Wilson has been selected as the Vice-Principal of J.A. Laird Elementary School in Invermere, effective August 1st, 2025.

Lainey brings more than 16 years of experience as a dedicated educator in the Rocky Mountain School District. She has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels, including at J.A. Laird Elementary, David Thompson Secondary, and most recently at Open Doors Alternate School. Her work has focused on inclusive education, flexible learning pathways, and supporting meaningful student success from Grades 4 through 12. In all instances, Lainey has brought a collaborative and thoughtful approach to her work in support of student achievement.

Beyond the classroom, Lainey is a familiar face in the community. She serves on the boards of local organizations including the Windermere Valley Minor Hockey Association and the Columbia Valley Skating Club. She has organized tournaments and events, supported youth sports, and helped build community through active living and wellness.
