March 14. 3/14. The day we celebrate the number Pi, which represents the ratio between the circumference and the diameter of a circle.
It was calculated by Archimedes, and is sometimes called ‘Archimedes Number’. Pi is an irrational number, meaning its digits have no repeating pattern and no end! There have been over a trillion digits calculated and there’s no end in sight. It is fun that ‘360’ is contained in the digits, starting at the 359th position, since circles have 360 degrees!
To honour this important number today, look around you for circles in nature, spend some time hula-hooping, eat some pizza, or better yet – some pie!
