On December 18, Mr. Gruggen’s Law Studies 12 class attended Cranbrook Provincial Court. The students witnessed several list cases concerning a variety of criminal offenses and the respective conviction sentencings. Between court sittings, the Crown prosecutor and a Defense lawyer sat with the class and discussed the court experience and answered questions students had about careers in law.
In an additional opportunity, the Sheriff offered a tour of the holding cells, the prisoner transport vehicles, and Supreme Court. This field trip has become a staple in the course and a memorable experience for students.
