Kindness gifts from students to their mental health heroes

Community LINK Worker, Morgan Odland received a Kindness Microgrant from The Columbia Valley Community Foundation with her idea of bringing acknowledgement and awareness of mental health from students to others in the Invermere Community. Students from Eileen Madson Primary School, Edgewater Elementary School, and David Thompson Secondary School were given the opportunity to send either flowers or fudge from Inspire Floral Boutique to an individual they nominated for helping them with their mental health recently.

This initiative was well responded to from all three schools, with students enjoying the ability to send something either anonymously or not, to someone in the community that had helped them with their mental health. As Morgan stated, "It was incredible to see all sides of this project. From supporting students deciding on who they would nominate, their choice of the gift to give, as well as the shocked and excited faces of the individuals who were nominate. This was a great success of kindness that connected these schools from School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) to the Invermere Community.

Thank you Morgan for your leadership and organization of this heartfelt initiative.
