Eileen Madson Primary School (EMP) in Invermere is recognizing students and staff weekly through their Taking Care Awards.

Students are nominated by staff or students for taking care of themselves, each other or EMP and community. The awards are announced on the intercom in the school, and then students and staff are individually given their own certificate for their great work.

Students have received awards for things such as taking responsibility for their own learning, organizing a school yard clean up and supporting another sad or injured student.

These awards give students a way to build their strengths, and for all students to shine in some way.  One student, when receiving her award, stated very excitedly “This is my first award EVER!!!”

The Taking Care Awards are a shining example of the work that our schools are doing to ensure that all learning environments and opportunities are inclusive.

Take a look EMP’s website to see the tremendous kindness the students and staff are being recognized for.
