Last month, Grade 6 and 7 students from J. Alfred Laird, Edgewater, Windermere, and Martin Morigeau elementary schools came together to have a volleyball jamboree at David Thompson Secondary School.
This event was planned to help increase students’ sense of belonging - a goal identified by these four schools. By playing at DTSS, this helps students transition from their elementary schools to their high school. For students, it was an awesome afternoon of playing volleyball and meeting other kids from neighbouring communities.
This was the second event coordinated by the Windermere zone elementary athletics teachers. The first, a soccer jamboree, was held in October.
