Each year, as part of a continuous improvement cycle, Rocky Mountain School District develops an operational plan that outlines the goals and strategies that will be the focus of the work for the upcoming year. This plan is guided by the current 4-year strategic plan using a variety of student data as the foundation for decision making, schools develop school success plans that identifies targets for improving student learning.

Selkirk Secondary Senior Girls Basketball Team

SD6 is home to very talented athletes. 

The District would like to congratulate several of our sports teams and athletes for their excellent accomplishments this year!!

  • Selkirk Secondary school senior Girls basketball team - First place in the Kootenay zone and went to provincials in Langley!  
  • Selkirk junior girls volleyball team scored silver in the East Kootenay Zone
  • Both Selkirk senior volleyball teams won the Kootenay Zone championships
  • College of the Rockies signed two Selkirk Secondary School volleyball team members - Winter Knudsgaard and Abigail Betker
  • Selkirk Boys and Girls volleyball teams won zone championships
  • Selkirk Boys soccer team scored a bronze at zones
  • Sadie DeMars competed in the Cross Country running provincials and competed with the BC Nordic Ski Team
  • Kaiden Thorpe signed with Vancouver Island University and will be continuing her soccer career there.
  • Quinn Unger competed in moguls at a Canada Cup
  • Adison Steel competed at the BC Gymnastics Championships in Surrey.  She placed 1st in Bars, 2nd in All Around, 4th in Beam, 5th in Vault, and 5th in Floor!
  • Raleigh Tarte, Logan Cox, Sadie DeMars, Koby Clark and Ethan Eskelin all competed at teh Canadian Ski Championsips in Whistler, BC
  • 5 Selkirk athletes qualified for Track and Field provincials 
  • 15 Selkirk students attended mountain biking provincials on Vancouver Island and they placed 9th overall
  • Jack Kolesch, grade 12 student at David Thompson Secondary School placed third in Freeride World Junior Championships in Kappl, Austria
